About Me

josh-camden-yards-2My name is Josh Birch. I am a graduate student at the University of Maryland studying broadcast journalism. I love to find and tell a great story, and am interested in both news and sports.

I currently am a reporter/anchor for Capital News Service(CNS). I turn daily stories for the website and nightly newscasts. I pride myself on being versatile while covering a wide array of stories. While with CNS, I have covered President Obama, the Navy Yard shooting and the government shutdown.

I also write for the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland. While writing for the Povich Center, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing Cal Ripken Jr. and legendary broadcaster Johnny Holliday.

I graduated in 2012 with a B.A. in Communication and History from the University of Maryland.

I was lucky enough to have had four incredible internships. I interned with NBC 4 News in Washington, NBC 4 Sports in Washington, WBOC TV-16 in Salisbury, Md., and WMDT 47 News in Salisbury.

I was a columnist for The Huffington Post and The Diamondback. I was also a general assignment reporter for WMUC News.
